In “Memory of Ian Henderson”

Ian Henderson was Riverside’s longest serving member of the Bowling Club. He joined in 1969 and since then became involved in the club. During his long service he was Club Secretary, President and was involved in the committee for many years. His bowling on the green brought him much success, representing Riverside Bowling Club at the Scottish Finals both at Queens Park and at Ayr. He also represented the club at County level. Ian was club champion many times and pairs champion many times particularly with Robin Hain. Challenge Triples was another event that he succeeded in. He won the Mogil Triples, an annual floodlight event held at the end of the season, and we see from the photograph above (back right), Ian with Bill Gillespie, Robin Hain and Ian Hutcheon representing the bowling club. Ian always had his heart in the club and latterly when he was unable to play, he always came down to watch the players, particularly in competitions. A gentleman on and off the green and Riverside Bowling Club will sadly miss his presence among us!
